BirdGuard

Personal security and privacy guard for Windows 11

What BirdGuard does

Three main things. And four nice bonuses.

Everything is implemented and covered by 715 automated tests (audit of 7 Oct 2026). Still missing: hands-on verification on a clean system and a signed installer.

What others do not watch

See what AI agents do on your computer

AI assistants such as Claude Code work directly on your computer: they launch programs, read and change files and connect to the network. BirdGuard records their sessions so you can see exactly what happened.

  • Which programs an agent launched and where it connected
  • Which files in the working folder it read or changed
  • Behaviour rules and an alert when the agent breaks them
  • A suspicious session can be stopped
How oversight works

Why it is worth having

No flattery. Just facts about your computer.

  • You see what is going on

Windows says little about itself. BirdGuard shows what starts up, who connects to the network and who uses the camera and microphone.

  • Explained in plain language

Findings come with an explanation of what they mean and what to do. No need to know PowerShell or the registry.

  • Nothing without your consent

Every fix has a preview of the changes, your confirmation and an Undo button.

  • Privacy first

No account, no author's server, no telemetry. Everything stays on your computer.

  • Oversight of AI agents

See which programs AI agents launch, which files they read and where they connect.

  • Lightweight

Around 45 MB of memory and a tenth of a percent of the processor at rest (measured in limited mode without administrator rights).

How it works

Three steps. You have the final say.

  1. 1

    Check

BirdGuard goes through your system, network, privacy and accounts and builds a list of findings sorted by severity.

  2. 2

    Proposed fix

For each finding you see exactly what will change and what effect it will have.

  3. 3

    Approval and watching

You approve a fix, BirdGuard applies it and keeps watching so the problem does not come back. Any change can be undone.

Privacy and AI

You see exactly what is sent. And what is not.

The AI assistant (Claude) is optional and off by default. When you turn it on, BirdGuard anonymises all data before sending and shows you the exact text of the query. The API key is stored in the secure Windows store, never in plain text.

  • API key only in the OS vault (Credential Manager)
  • Preview of the anonymised query before every send
  • No telemetry from BirdGuard itself
