We are preparing BirdGuard 1.0

We are preparing a free app for Windows 11 with no ads and no trial period.

  • Windows 11
  • Administrator rights during installation (without them it runs in limited mode)
  • Internet only for optional features and for downloading public lists
  • App interface: Czech only for now (screens on this site are translated for illustration)

BirdGuard 1.0

Coming soon

The installer has not been published yet. When version 1.0 is ready, you will find a direct link, the file size and the SHA-256 checksum here.

Installation in three steps

01

Follow the release

As soon as version 1.0 is ready, we will publish a verified installer on this page.

02

Run the installer

Confirm the Windows dialog and let the wizard finish – it takes a few seconds.

03

First check

After starting, BirdGuard runs a first check and shows your security score.

What to expect when installing

Honestly and up front, so nothing surprises you. The installer is about 180 MB (it includes .NET) and takes roughly 440 MB once installed.

Steps

  1. We recommend creating a system restore point beforehand.
  2. Run the installer and go through the wizard. A PowerShell window opens briefly during installation; let it finish.
  3. After installation BirdGuard starts with an icon in the notification area.

Uninstalling

Uninstall it in Windows Settings (Apps). The uninstaller asks whether to delete the history and stored keys as well, and it reverts all system changes.

SmartScreen warning

Until the build is digitally signed, SmartScreen or your antivirus may show a warning. Then choose “More info → Run anyway” and verify the SHA-256 checksum shown on this page.

When something does not work

When something does not work: Settings → Diagnostics → Save diagnostics. A zip file is created in Documents\BirdGuard; nothing is sent automatically.

Two ways to use it

Try BirdGuard without installing a service, or turn on full protection in the background.

No administrator rights

Limited mode

Checks run under your account. Without administrator rights BirdGuard watches processes and connections more slowly and may miss short-lived ones.

  • No Windows service
  • Ideal for trying it out
  • Limited fixes and monitoring
Recommended

Full Windows service

You install the service directly from the app in Settings. It watches the computer continuously, even when the window is closed.

  • Real-time monitoring in the background
  • Fixes that require administrator rights
  • History of checks and fixes stored only on your computer
