An agent is not just a chat
Coding-agent tools do not work with text alone. They can read and change files in a working folder, launch programs and commands and connect to the network. That is useful, but it means they have real reach into your computer.
What to consider
- Give the agent access only to the working folder it needs.
- Check which commands it proposes to run and do not confirm them blindly.
- Keep a backup or version control of important files so a change can be undone.
- Watch where the agent connects, and do not store passwords or keys in the working folder.
An overview of what happened
BirdGuard records the sessions of AI agents: which programs they launched, which files they read or changed and which addresses they connected to. By default it only records; you turn on active guarding yourself and a suspicious session can be stopped.
